How Delivery Works

Understand the delivery process - what triggers delivery, what your recipients receive, how recall works, and status transitions during delivery.

Delivery is the moment everything you've prepared reaches the people who need it. Understanding how this process works gives you confidence that your wishes will be carried out exactly as you intended.

Delivery is never instant or accidental. It only begins after multiple missed check-ins and a full grace period, giving you every opportunity to confirm before anything is sent.

What Triggers Delivery

Delivery follows a careful, multi-step process:

  1. Missed check-in - You don't respond to your scheduled check-in confirmation
  2. Reminder attempts - We send additional reminders over your configured grace period
  3. All reminders exhausted - After every reminder goes unanswered, delivery preparation begins
  4. Delivery begins - Your scheduled vitals are sent to their assigned recipients

At any point during steps 1 through 3, a single confirmation from you stops the entire process. We always err on the side of caution.

What Gets Delivered

When delivery is triggered, all vitals in Scheduled status are delivered to their assigned recipients. Each recipient receives only the vitals you specifically assigned to them - nothing more.

A delivery includes:

  • Vital details - All the fields and information you recorded
  • Attached files - Any documents, photos, or other files linked to the vital
  • Your personal note - The message you wrote to help your recipient identify you

Recipients are notified via email and SMS (if provided) with a secure link to access their vitals.

Status Transitions During Delivery

As delivery progresses, your vitals move through clear status changes:

StatusWhat It Means
ScheduledProtected and waiting - your check-ins are active
DeliveringDelivery has been triggered and is in progress
DeliveredSuccessfully sent to all assigned recipients
ArchivedDelivery is complete and the vital is stored for reference

You can see the current status of each vital on your dashboard at any time.

The Recall Window

If delivery has been triggered but you're still able to act - maybe you were in a hospital, traveling without connectivity, or simply missed your reminders - you have a recall window to stop the process.

During the recall window:

  • Click the recall link in any of your notification emails
  • Delivery stops immediately for any vitals that haven't been accessed yet
  • Your vitals return to their Scheduled status

The recall window exists because we understand that life is unpredictable. A missed check-in doesn't always mean what it might seem to mean, and we want to give you every chance to stay in control.

After Delivery

Once delivery is complete and the recall window has closed:

  • Recipients have time-limited access to view and download their vitals
  • Your vitals move to Archived status in your account
  • You can still log in and see what was delivered and to whom
