A Letter to My Adult Child

For a parent writing to their grown child about life lessons

Dear one,

Watching you grow into the person you are today has been the greatest privilege of my life. You've become someone I not only love, but deeply admire.

I want to share some things I've learned, not as rules to follow, but as offerings from someone who's walked a little further down the road.

On Relationships

Choose people who make you feel like yourself, not a version of yourself. The right people won't need you to shrink.

On Work

Find something that matters to you, but remember that what you do is not who you are. Your worth isn't measured in achievements.

On Failure

Every setback I've had taught me something I couldn't have learned any other way. Don't fear falling - fear never trying.

On Grief

When you miss me, talk about me. Tell stories. Let your children know who I was. That's how we stay present even when we're gone.

On Joy

Don't postpone happiness. That trip you want to take, the person you want to call, the dream you're putting off - do it now. Life is shorter than we think.

You carry the best of me forward. I trust you completely.

With endless love.
