Getting Started with Vitals

Welcome to Vitals - learn how to organize your most important information for your loved ones with a quick walkthrough of the dashboard, categories, and scheduling.

Getting started with Vitals is one of the most thoughtful things you can do for the people you love.

Vitals lets you organize your most important information - finances, legal documents, personal wishes, digital accounts, and more - so your loved ones have everything they need, exactly when they need it.

What Are Vitals?

Vitals are structured pieces of information that you prepare for your recipients. Instead of leaving your family to search through drawers and filing cabinets, you organize everything into clear categories with specific details, files, and instructions. Think of it as a living guidebook for the people who matter most.

Your First Steps

Setting up your vitals takes just a few minutes. Here's the path from start to finish:

1. Explore Your Dashboard

After signing in, your dashboard gives you a bird's-eye view of your progress. You'll see your overall readiness score, category breakdowns, and any items that need your attention. This is your home base for everything vitals-related.

2. Pick a Category

Vitals are organized into categories like Financial, Legal, Personal, Digital, and more. Choose the area that feels most important to you right now - there's no wrong place to start. Many people begin with financial accounts or legal documents, but start wherever feels natural.

3. Create Your First Vital

Within each category, you'll find specific options to choose from. For example, under Financial you might select "Bank Accounts" or "Insurance Policies." Select an option, and you'll be guided through filling in the relevant details. Required fields are clearly marked, and you can always come back to add more later.

4. Assign Recipients

Choose which of your loved ones should receive this vital. You can assign different vitals to different people - your spouse might need access to bank accounts, while your adult children might need information about your wishes and personal documents.

5. Activate Your Schedule

Once you have at least one vital ready, set up your check-in schedule. This is a simple, periodic confirmation that keeps your vitals safely stored. As long as you respond to check-ins, everything stays private. If we don't hear back after multiple attempts, your vitals are delivered to the people you've chosen.

What Happens Next

After your first vital is created and your schedule is active, you're protected. You can continue adding vitals at your own pace - there's no rush. Your dashboard will guide you toward areas that still need attention, and your readiness score will grow as you add more information.
