Vitals Discovery is your guided introduction - a walkthrough that helps you explore what's available and choose the vitals that fit your life.
Think of Vitals Discovery as an introductory tutorial. It walks you through each category so you can see the full breadth of what's available, then sets up draft vitals based on what you select. Once you have vitals defined, the catalog gives you a more direct way to find and add new ones - like looking things up in an index.
How It Works
When you first sign in after choosing your plan, Vitals Discovery walks you through two phases: a quick prequalification step, then a guided tour of every category.
Phase 1: Prequalification
Discovery begins with a single page of questions about your current life situation. These help us tailor what you'll see in the tour. For example:
- Do you own property? - If yes, we'll highlight property-related vitals during the tour
- Do you have dependents? - If yes, we'll prioritize guardian and financial planning vitals
- Do you have a will or trust? - If yes, we'll feature legal document vitals
- Do you have significant digital accounts? - If yes, we'll recommend digital asset vitals
There are no wrong answers. Skip anything that doesn't apply, and focus on what feels relevant to your life right now.
Phase 2: Guided Category Tour
After prequalification, Discovery walks you through each category one at a time - Financial, Legal, Personal, Digital, Property, Medical, and more. For each category, you'll see:
- Every vital type available in that category
- Recommended selections highlighted based on your prequalification answers
- The ability to add or remove any vital type regardless of recommendations
This is your chance to browse the full breadth of topics we cover. Take your time exploring - you might discover vital types you hadn't considered, like digital account access or memorial preferences.
From Selections to Draft Vitals
Once you've toured every category and confirmed your choices, Discovery creates a draft vital for each option you selected. These drafts are already organized into the right categories and have the correct fields ready for you to fill in.
Your dashboard will immediately show these drafts in the "Needs Attention" section, giving you a clear path forward. Work through them at your own pace - start with the ones that feel most important, and fill in the others when you're ready.
Discovery vs. the Catalog
After Discovery, you won't need to go through the tour again. The catalog is always available from your dashboard for adding new vitals later. The catalog is more like an index - you go directly to the category and vital type you want, without the guided walkthrough. Discovery is the tutorial; the catalog is the reference.
Guardian Plan: Essentials Only
If you're on the Guardian plan, Discovery is streamlined to focus on the essentials. You'll see a curated selection of the most important vital types - the core information your loved ones are most likely to need. This keeps things simple and manageable while still covering the basics.
As your needs grow, you can always upgrade your plan to unlock additional categories and vital types.
